A mock documentary that takes a look at the life of Kenny Smyth (Shane Jacobson), an optimistic and enthusiastic waste management plumber at specialist company Splashdown who installs portaloos at various functions in Australia. As well as having to contend with spending his days in sewage, Kenny also has to deal with a horrible ex-wife, a disappointed father who refers to him as a 'turd burglar', and bizarre co-workers. Kenny endures various terrible situations in his life with a cheery optimism, until his luck changes when he is sent on a business trip to the International Pumper and Cleaner Expo in Nashville and becomes involved with an airline stewardess. Director Clayton Jacobson and his brother Shane wrote the script to this engaging and sweet natured comedy that features several classic one-liners and manages to avoid showing the details of Kenny's job. While the mock documentary genre has been fine tuned by Christopher Guest (BEST IN SHOW) and Ricky Gervais (THE OFFICE), KENNY is a hilarious and endearing addition.

A very funny/interesting movie shot id documentary style. My better half and I didn't know what to expect from the video as we had only heard one comment that it was funny so ... money well spent. Some touching parts and a 'real life' type of story - not glamorous, not fancy, down to earth and just regular guys. Fair warning - if your hearing is a bit off you may want to have the subtitles on as the accents are a bit thick in spots.

This little gem is just an awesome movie! Kennie will endear anyone, I'm quite sure. He is a man with a sincere, gentle manner and he puts his heart into his work--even though almost no one (including his father and brother) respects what he does for a living. Kennie delivers some hilarious lines in the most deadpan serious way. You'll be surprised by the wonderful story line woven into this mockumentary on the porta-loo business in Australia. I don't think it's suitable for children. The language is pretty colorful along with a few surprise scenes that I wouldn't let my children see. Still, this is one of my top favorite movies of all time and it's one I can watch again and again (unusual for me). Be sure to watch the Extras on the DVD after the movie. I was amazed about the cast, where the story idea came from, and how they pulled this small budget movie off in such a professional way.

Watched it on Singapore Airlines - its an absolutely hilarious movie, and for quite a while you wonder whether its a discovery channel documentary that went wrong or whether it's a movie. It's the story we all know: a born loser has a job that nobody wants (a plumber that specialised in moveable toilet containers / boxes), gets into situations he cant win, is the one that everybody makes jokes about, but he keeps his dignity and ultimately has the last laugh. The actors are phantastic, absolutely authentic. Great movie, 5 stars.
