This hat has a tightening elastic at the back (with adjustor button to hold it in place) so you can customize the hat size to fit your head exactly, so the hat won't fly off at all. I don't even need the chin strap when this is pulled tightly enough.The hat materials feel synthetic, but of nice quality. And the hat feels comfortable on my head. It's slightly warming.The top of the hat is very soft and thin, but the material feels strong enough to last. The brim is wide enough to feel protective and it keeps its firm shape well.There is a seam along the mid-line of the hat where you can fold the hat in half for compacting down for travel. This fold-along-the-seam idea makes it so you don't have to iron out the hat later, which is clever.The mesh holes on the sides are not full-on holes but more like several layers of foam mesh, so that it filters the sunlight that comes through it and will not leave polka-dot sunburn marks on a bald head. It does however let a little bit of light through so I'm not sure but it may not be 100% UV-protective at the mesh area. For me, my hair protects my scalp in those areas anyway so it's not an issue for me.Overall, I was more impressed with this hat than I thought I'd be. Comfy, looks good on and has a nice wide brim to protect from the sun. Great!
