Works not too hot

The card worked well out of the box. Plug and play on Windows 10, no additional drivers required. However, after my machine had been running for a while, I noticed Windows started to randomly warn me about disconnected drives. I realised the card was overheating.This was likely more of a fault with my setup (lack of cooling / airflow) and not a fault with the card itself (they are generally designed to work in server racks with excellent cooling). I screwed a 40x10mm fan (Noctua NF-A4x10 FLX) to the heat sink using a couple of 20mm M3 bolts (see attached photo) and have had no problems since.Update: Though the card was getting hot and the fan helps, it turned out the drives disconnecting was a PSU issue and not due to this card at all. Therefore, I cannot fault it and would highly recommend.

Funktioniert bisher einwandfrei. Ich hatte zuerst den Controller verdächtigt, warum meine Festplatten im NAS nicht anlaufen, aber es war ein anderes Problem. Duchsatz stimmt und bisher gibts nichts zu bemängeln.

Probada con ocho SSDs capaces de sostener más de 550MiB cada uno, todos a la vez y sin problemas.Además he probado a la vez con un NVME PCIe 3.0 x4 en placa base a más de 3300MiB/s y con otros seis HDDs de más de 250MiB/s cada uno.Con todos transfiriendo a la vez, ninguno hace cuello de botella a ninguno, todos a máximas prestaciones.Eso si, aseguraos de que la placa base es la adecuada y lleva lineas PCIe dedicadas y no a través del chipset, etc. si deseáis máximas prestaciones en rendimiento (osea ponerle ocho SSDs).Nota: No he probado lo del port-multiplier.Incluso he tenido una gratísima sorpresa con el Hot-Plug, incluso desde la propia configuración de la BIOS que trae la controladora soporta Hot-Plug y Hot-SWAP, es decir se pueden conectar en caliente estando en la configuración de la BIOS (no todas las controladoras admiten esto) y también se pueden cambiar por otros y detecta el cambio sin salir de la configuración de la BIOS (poquísimas hacen esto último, suelen obligarte a reiniciar).Probado el Hot-Plug y Hot-Swap desde Linux (SystemRescueCD) y funciona adecuadamente (es muy recomendable ejecutar los comandos en Linux antes de desconectar los discos).Lo que no he probado es si la controladora en sí misma es Hot-Plug, es decir si se puede conectar al puerto PCIe con el PC funcionando, algunas placas base (incluida la que uso) soportan dicha función, pero muchas otras no... yo personalmente no me la juego (eléctricamente hablando) y paso de probar a hacer eso, prefiero apagar y desenchufar.

Works well. The controller usually runs hot (around 70 celsius), so a noctua fan modification is recommended.

I’d seen the reviews so knew what to expect. Followed other reviews advice and added a Noctura fan. Plugged in to the workstation and worked first time (with Slackware 14). Currently running 3 drives off of it with no issues
