Mould king trein 12007

Edit: Important note the gearbox as designed will throw the bevel gears really easily as they have too much room to move. Which almost certainly will lead to them breaking as the motor has so much torque and they will jam on something. Can be fixed really easily by replacing the full height technic bush with a 1x1 brick with hole (Bricklink catalogue number 6541) and doing the same on the vertical shaft that couples the wheels to the motor - which will required a longer axle with stopper pushed through from the bottom holding that brick captive (I used the Bricklink 32209 as it is what I had in stock, but 15362 or 55013 (cut down as required) would probably be a better choice). A good visual depiction of the concept in use for this fix is in the Emerald night locomotive instructions. Not done huge amounts of testing on this locomotive since making that change, though I surely want to, it really looks great. But it hasn't yet thrown the gears despite a stress test pulling lots of extra rolling stock where before without the tender it would throw the gears almost every time it takes a corner. Worth noting this was with a throttle controlled remote - the really impressive motor torque may still bust those gears over time with the binary on/off of the supplied remote.First off its a very nice looking train, suffering from the same problem as all virtually all construction toy train sets seem to - lack of carriages so the locomotive actually looks like it has something to do. The plastics are perhaps a step down from Lego, but still very very good, the bricks clutch power is just right, the colours are very even outside the tiny injection moulding feed port, the surface finish smooth. The design is in parts genius with its snot (Studs Not On Top) techniques to get the detail level, and in part terrible with 'illegal' part placement, one of which will require glue/solvent welding to actually get the parts to stay together. This worst offender would be so easy for them to fix - instead of trying to use droid arms that are identical to Lego ones gripped at the elbow inside a clip for the details around the tenders wheels make a 'droid arm' part actually designed to be clipped in the middle... But a little Acetone welding and it looks very nice. The battery box electronics at least in my unit have proven fragile it has died almost immediately, and the remote having only two settings full on or full off for the motor is far from ideal. (I suspect after a cursory look there was probably a short across the bare conductive patches on the back of the long thin LED wires which blew a FET - one is clearly bulging. I shall try to remember to update this review once I get around to really debugging the unit, but if you get this set I suggest don't use the lights or insulate back of the LED PCD to protect from shorts before you connect them to the battery). If you wish to try and use a Lego PF battery box be aware the battery box in this train is one brick shorter and has 4 outputs of which 3 are in use not just 1 (Though I'm pretty sure it won't be particularly hard to fit a power functions battery and IR remote brick, as there is some extra space I've not tried it). What little use I've managed to get out of the motor it seems smooth and powerful and the 'steam generator' atomiser seems quite sensitive to fluid level but really works well while there is the right amount of fluid in it, at least on my unit. Quite a good effect too, thick enough stream of vapour to sell the look at least under the right lighting.Edit 2: Took a while for shipping but after emailing the address on the box for missing parts they did just send me a new battery box, so the company does support its customers very well.
