Before seeing this, I had no idea that this class of device actually existed. This allows you to add full CarPlay support to your bike.Installation is quite simple (the manual recommends having a professional do it, but that isn't necessary in my opinion). The mount is easy to construct, and just involves screwing together a few pieces. Pairing it with your iPhone is exactly the same process as with any other wireless CarPlay system: Connect to the device over Bluetooth, and then answer the prompt that comes up on your phone; the connection automatically switches over to WiFi and you're good to go.All of the expected CarPlay functionality is there, with one added benefit: you can continue to have audio play through your phone or headphones rather than through this unit. In a car, that wouldn't make much sense, but on a bike it's absolutely essential that you be able to do that.You can power the device by wiring the mount directly to a DC power source (e.g. to your bike's electrical system) as long as that source provides between 12vdc and 100vdc. But, what I wasn't expecting is that you can also power it through USB-C. This means that, theoretically, you could even use this on a bicycle provided you had a USB-C power bank to power it.There are a few rough edges:- While the manual mentions storing files on an SD/TF card and being able to browse them on the device, that doesn't seem to be possible. There doesn't really seem to be any point to the SD card slot except for potentially installing firmware updates.- There doesn't seem to be any straightforward way to update the firmware, or to even check for updates. The manual mentions that you have to e-mail the manufacturer to get the latest firmware emailed to you.- The power cord on the mount is non-removable. This means that, if you plan on powering the device over USB-C, you'll have about 8" of cord dangling off of the back.- The manual could use some proofreading and spell check from a native speaker (some of the diagrams are simply incorrect, pointing at the wrong locations on the device)All-in-all, this is a really useful device, and the rough edges don't really detract from the day-to-day experience using it.
