I would ignore the negative reviews as they seem to have misunderstood what this product is and what it's used for. If your tent is currently leaking this will not help and has the possibility of making it worse.This product is used to add an outer protective coating that isn't waterproof but is water repellant. This will cause your tents fabric to start beading water so it runs off easier. Much like when having your car interior or home sofa protected with something like Scotchgard, the water will sit on top of the fabric rather than soaking straight into it.A water repellant is no good if your tent is leaking. Your tent can leak for 2 reasons:1. (most common) Water coming through the seams of the tent. This is because they are not tightly woven like the main canopy is and over time the waterproof layer on the underside of them fails/cracks. If this is your case then you can buy a seam repair kit to solve this issue. Even the best tents have this problem over time.2. Water is coming through your main canopy. This is due to the polyurethane coating that's applied to the inside of your nylon canopy wearing away or cracking. Again you will need a specialist repair product for that.This product MIGHT help in the fact it could bead the water away from the damaged areas but it also MIGHT make it much worse if the water beads onto the damaged areas. Either way, if your tent is currently leaking this isn't the product for you.

This stuff works very well. So well in fact that it is almost impossible to clean off your hands after application. The water just beads up on your skin.

Hab mir diese Imprägnierung von Vaude gekauft, weil wir im Urlaub an die Ostsee gefahren sind und nicht so gutes Wetter angesagt war.Habe also ein paar Tage vor dem Urlaub das Zelt aufgebaut und das Imprägnierspray nach Anleitung aufgetragen. Dazu müsste man das Zelt einsprühen, überschüssiges Spay entfernen, nass machen, trocknen lassen und dann wieder überschüssiges Spray entfernen.(vllt was in einer falschen Reihenfolge geschrieben, aber alles steht gut erklärt auf der Flasche) das ging schnell und gut von der Hand und wenn man schnell im Zelt aufbauen ist, dann würde ich jedem empfehlen es vor dem Urlaub zu machen, ansonsten kann man es ja auch am ersten Urlaubstag imprägnieren.Ergebnis:Alles gut. Drei Tag Regen im Urlaub und alles absolut trocken. Sicherlich liegt das auch daran, dass ich ein gutes Zelt habe und es ordentlich aufbaue, Abspanne und innen nix an die Wände kommen lasse, aber auch an dem Spray.Würde es wieder kaufen und preislich finde ich es auch ok. Hat gut gereicht für ein 3-Personenzelt.

The Nikwax was very easy to use on my 28 year old Eureka 2 man Timberline backpacking tent. I set up the tent and simply sprayed it on the tent, then wiped it around with a small damp cloth I also sprayed. I may try it on my waterproof North Face jacket to make it water repellant.
