This is great as either a stand-alone item or something kept in the bag for those moments when your usual battery dies as I now have a dual-purpose item that does just that. I am using this currently with my Sony HDC 2500 camcorder together with a power bank and so far - with the supplied as fitted 5.5 plug - is okay in one of the ports. It fits rather snugly with no problems and the coiled cable is just about right length-wise. With over a couple of hours in use so far using it at one event I was covering, it’s still going strong with two bars lit up out of the four that gives me an idea of its power reserve status, so I’m more than happy. Brilliant device that works.

First off if you are in the UK, unless things have changed in the last few years you will struggle to find a power adapter to fit. I have one but it is a US unit going through a USA to UK voltage converter. Note this could be the reason for the fluctuations I see but I doubt it.I use F550 batteries for four photographic lights. It is a common battery for this and so a dedicated power supply appealed. Alas, though the cable will 'stretch' to 100cm, it is too short and pulls in, which with a light weight light means pulling it as the coil in the cable works it's spring like elasticity.I found that the light worked but I was getting a flicker and the brightness reading bounced around as if I'm not getting consistent power. Not had this before with this power adapter and voltage converter so I suspect it is the dummy battery.Ideally this could do with having a longer cable and also possibly being USB-A terminated, not 5.5x2.1mm peg. Still I have given a certain benefit due to my usage and setup, with an actual camera it may work far better, though will still be a short cable.

My Sony HXR-NX5P can only be powered by a battery. I needed the camera to be recording for extended lengths and permanently mounted in a high position on a wall. Swapping and charging batteries is not a good option.I finally found this dummy battery power supply and it works perfectly. I cut off the end and spliced it into another power supply since the ends were not compatible. There are only two wires inside (positive and negative) so it was an easy hack.I measured the voltage at the dummy battery posts and it is a reliable supply.Highly recommended.
