This thing is amazing. It is as light as binos get; but I will be getting a monocular for backpacking.

In my layman's view, the optics are very sharp and clear, top notch considering the price (not quite as sharp as my Pentax AD 9x28). It's also suitable for smaller kids due to the wider field of view (first I was sceptical about the 6.5 magnification being not enough, but I was wrong). The close minimum focus distance is also a neat feature. Only cons are that it's not waterproof and has no front lens cover, it's also a bit bulkier than the common 8x21 foldable binocs. Focus adjustment is a tad on the ligth side, a bit firmer would be good.

I take it with me for travels and it enriches my and my friends experience. It's fun! Especially good for botanical gardens.Cons:1. The binocular overlap is not very wide at close focusing. It looks like around 1/3 of field of view is not binocular. It's binocular only in the center. You can google binocular overlap.2. There is no front lens cap. I had to design and 3d print mine. Though it's not really needed if used as intended.3. The photographic mount is flimsy. Don't apply much force when tightening screw to it as it will break - the shell of the plastic holding the screw inside is relatively thin. I had mine broken, so I had to plastic-weld this shell and fill it around with glue for sturdiness.Despite cons I love it!

Very happy with this Bins. Easy to use with one hand. Close ups are a joy - never had this much fun on close ups with another pair Bins. I have vortex 10x50 and Celestron 8x42. But I always go for this Pentax 6.5 when I am out walking or bicycling or Picnics. The other 2 require some kind of planning but Pentax gets picked automatically.Highly recommended of you are looking for a light weight good quality bins.
