Peter Pan

Another wonderful Disney Animated Feature book from Lambert. Well chosen illustrations of a movie not otherwise benefitting from such delightful treatment, accompanied by thoughtful text, (in French again, but I have a translator!) brings this animated favourite of mine to finally to light. So why do I say less than it should be? Because the author has again been let down by his publishers who are not prepared to trust him or is it trust us, with the cost of reproducing the design values of the superb earlier volumes in this series. Being of size to suit the beauty of the product and including lavish "animation art cels" these early books were a joy to own and read. The most recent volumes, however nice, however welcome, simply do not match up to their sumptuous predecessors. I, and I suspect others, would value and buy a Special Edition produced to the standards of old.

Bellissimo volume, ennesimo della ormai trentennale serie dedicata da Lambert ai film di animazione Disney, quelli voluti e seguiti personalmente dallo stesso Walt. Materiale, anche inedito, reperito all'archivio di Burbank dove vengono ad oggi custoditi più di 60 milioni di disegni e bozzetti originali realizzati in più di 100 anni di lavoro dello Studio. Una meraviglia per gli occhi e per il cuore soprattutto per chi ha avuto la fortuna di vedere questi film al cinema durante gli anni della propria giovinezza. La copertina del volume naturalmente è RIGIDA come di consueto, non flessibile.

Magnífico libro de ilustraciones y desarrollo de bocetos del clásico de Disney Peter Pan. No debe faltar en la librería de todo buen coleccionista Disney que se precie.

Die Buchstruktur ist gleich wie bei allen Bänden von Pierre Lambert: Ca. 30 Seiten reiner Text (in Französisch), dann ca. 180 Seiten Bilder: Hintergründe, Cels, Storyboards, Zeichnungen etc. im Großformat. Es ist und bleibt aber rätselhaft, warum diese genialen Kunstbände nicht zugleich auf English für den internationalen Markt produziert werden. Letztlich ist es aber nicht zwingend notwendig Französisch zu können: Die Filmgeschichte findet sich auch anderswo und der Großteil sind eben Bilder aus / zum Film ohne weitere Kommentare, da sie für sich selbst sprechen ;-)

Another superb Pierre Lambert book in the lower cost paperback series, but that does not mean any lower quality. Still the same excellent graphics and behind-the-scenes images as we've come to expect. Another amazing entry in his Disney Classic Animation series.
