Mother of LEGOs

This is a seriously cool and unique building kit. If you know someone who likes Lego style building sets, or if you know someone who already has and enjoys plus plus blocks, this would make a wonderful gift for that person! My son is 11 and loves Lego and plus plus, so I grabbed this as soon as I had the chance. I love that it comes with detailed, building brick style instructions that make it easier for kids to make complex 3D builds. And the “puzzle by number” aspect is a unique and fun twist.Essentially you get 6 builds (6 different sea animals, for the set I picked) and then for each one they offer either a 2D or 3D instruction set. The 2D instructions are the puzzle by number ones that are easier builds and will work better for younger kids or anyone not as experienced with more complex Lego style builds yet. The 3D instructions are not puzzle by number but instead they give you a fairly detailed breakdown of how to make rather complicated 3D builds, allowing the builder to follow along as they build. For the 3D builds there are several pieces to be added for each step so it’s not broken down piece by piece for the builder, but that’s where it’s nice that they also provide the fun puzzle by number 2D alternative for each animal so the user can choose which way they’d prefer to build. This is truly such a cool and creative idea, and while my 11 year old decided to create his own little alien type creatures with these bricks for now, he had a ton of fun with them and I think it just goes to show how this set is great for anyone who likes to build with any type of building toys. My kiddo isn’t the follow the instructions type — he has autism and almost always prefers to make his own thing from any building set — and he was able to do that here, and the themed colors certainly allow kids to make up their own creations as well as following the instructions. And this is so genuinely cool that, once he’s finished with these blocks, I’m going to sit down and try making some of the 2D and possibly 3D models myself, as it looks like it will be fun and relaxing like a color by number book or a Lego build is for me. Overall I think this kit is brilliant and I would easily recommend it for fans of plus plus or other building bricks, especially for kids but adult fans of LEGO and other 3D building sets may enjoy this too!Ps As I was taking photos I decided to add a few pieces onto one of the 2D builds to show how it works and I couldn’t seem to stop until it was finished, it was a very quick and fun build! While the 2D builds may be very simple for some adults/advanced builders, those who enjoy doing things like coloring books to relax may enjoy them like I did. More advanced builders will love the 3D builds which are past my ability level but something that the more skilled LEGO builders I know would have no problem with. So I can say this is definitely not just for kids although they will surely enjoy it but there are adults who would like this as well. It would also be great for things like occupational therapy to work on fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination etc. Just a great way to use the already awesome Plus Plus blocks. Highly recommend this set!

PlusPlus blocks have been a perennial toy for my girls who are now 9 and 11. They started playing with them probably around age 4 or 5, and they still frequently pull them out and play with them. Now my girls will create people and creatures and make little videos with them. They were super excited about these kits when they saw them because they get a new variety of colors plus the option to make lots of different 2D and 3D characters. The instructions are easy to follow, the builds are cute, and they store in a little sturdy box that has an elastic to keep it closed. They're the perfect on-the-go/car trip kids because they're compact and complete with everything you need. Plus, they give hours of open-ended play even once all of the builds have been completed.

This Plus Plus Puzzle By Number Activity Pad is a clever design. It’s a flip pad with well-made plastic puzzle pieces, and printed patterns on a theme (in this case, ocean related things), that help teach kids the concepts of 2D and 3D. I like how the puzzle pieces are stored in a flip-top box at the bottom, which can be secured shut with an attached elastic band. Fun activity for kids to do on a plane or a long car drive.
