The charcoal filter works, the first couple of weeks, I smelled nothing. Then today when I got home, something reeked, like fecal matter. After searching, I discovered that the bin leaked. I was using biodegradable liners, but they were cut by some egg shells I added. There was liquid all over the counter. I got another liner, put the leaking on into it and put the bin into the sink. I filled it with soap and HOT water. Then I took the bag to the backyard compost pile, came straight back, and the bin had leaked out all the hot water. I've decided to keep it. I'm going to try just adding a caulk sealer inside around the ring where it leaks. Hopefully that will take care of the problem. If not, I'll add an update.

It looks lovely and it is small enough so it fills quickly, which makes you take the rubbish out, preventing it from smelling bad. It also comes with an extra filter to also prevent the smell. The only problem is that it's quite difficult to open, you need to use both hands (one to hold the bin and the other to pull the lid), but I believe this is also to prevent it from smelling bad (hermetically sealed, or something like that).

Mein Vorgänger-Komposteimer war eindeutig zu klein für unseren 4-Personen-Haushalt und musste ständig geleert werden. Außerdem war er aus Plastik und ist mir doch das eine oder andere Mal runtergefallen. Von demher wusste ich genau, was ich wollte und bin hier fündig geworden. Ich freue mich jetzt sehr über dieses Modell. Die Größe ist wirklich perfekt, das Design schlicht, edel und schön. Das Material unverwüstlich. Toll!
