I hate to tell all the rega loyalists , but I can confirm that they did not really take into account the difference in platters when replacing the glass one. I had tracking issues with the one plus, and I started reading and saw that the black “plastic” one was 23 mm and the glass was 10mm. I can tell you with more expensive players you get thicker platters too. I own many far more expensive players and own $3000 cartridges too. I have $5000 interconnects that are .5 meter. I still have an issue with rega being this way with a $600 player. I think the glass platter should be included with the one plus and the 2 done away with. I can tell you that all my tracking issues went away with the glass platter that was meant for this table. I mean you take away all the ability to fine tune or change things and you switch to a cheaper thicker plastic platter for affect. I am lost by how people stupidity just buy all the uk reviews about rega. I mean it is great they are still made there which is why I tried one. I got this one for a bedroom player thinking it would be easier to have a built-in phono pre. I am pretty irked that I have to spend an extra $100 for my player to track correctly. I am lost at how there are so many rega loyalists. I think what they stared out as was cool, but I can tell you the company about giving you better hi-end quality for low-end cost is no more. The rega one plus with glass platter would be $700. I can think of a lot of better deals for $700 new and used. I would buy pro-ject. I have owned a lot of tables and some have costs in the $10,000’s range too. I can tell you a lot of the issues people have with a hum is more than likely a grounding issue too. I know some blame it on the motor. I think rega is just a scam that lives on old reviews and tries to make you only buy their products. I mean they very much limit the adjustability of their most expensive tables too. I can tell you they are all set with their cartridges only being used and no other companies in mind. I guess if you like plug and play give it a chance, but I would buy the pro-Ject rpm 3 with a sumiko blue no. 2 over the rega planar one plus. I know it retails for $999 but it has a $550 cartridge with it too. I have a sumiko celebration mkII which is a $3000 cartridge and it was their top of the line. Sumiko is made in Japan and their cartridges are great. I would look for an open-box or demo and the price would be negligible when having to buy a glass platter for a rega one plus too.
