Scotland's Forgotten Past: A History of the Mislaid, Misplaced and Misunderstood

Delightful. I really enjoyed this book and will read it again when I'm down.

Short chapters but so well written. Entertaining but also fascinating in the knowledge conveyed. It's like listening to crazy true stories around a campfire or when having a pint at your local. Will be getting more of Mr Moffat's books based on this one.

If you think history is excruciatingly dull, and you love or hate Scotland (or just find it boring) this brilliant tour of the mislaid, misplaced or misunderstood stories arising from it will inform and educate you, whether with new discoveries or in revision of forgotten tales. It has the writing quality of a compulsive novel read, while leading you through some of the highlights and lowlights of the land we now call Scotland, and many of the most famous, and infamous, people who have populated it. Three cheers!

Well written selection of short essays. I really enjoy the clarity and the humour. Recommend this, and any other, books by this author
