Star Ocean The Divine Force PS5

Originally watched the review IGN did as I haven’t played Star Ocean in ages but generally I’d rate it higher than they did,Story is pretty decent, different but good, fighting is pretty fun the flying around is pretty addictive as well & grinding certain bits defo ends up being worth it, individual characters are pretty cool as wellChose frame rate over graphics on the settings but tbh it still feels like a next gen game the scenery in the free roam looks so stunning even more so when you look up to spacePlayed on PS5 & Samsung UE65AU8000KXXU

Love this game

This is my first Star Ocean game and I enjoyed it quite a bit. In terms of JRPGs, I mostly play FF games and older PS1/2 JRPGs because I don't really like anime and find the voice acting and visual style off-putting, but I really liked the combat and had a great time exploring the world and destroying random NPCs at Es'owa.The story was okay, but nothing too special, and the characters were a bit dull and simple. I did cringe at some of the dialogue in the game, but overall I didn't have a hard time getting into it. Some of the characters even grew on me eventually, even if they're as deep as a puddle.The flying mechanic was pretty cool too, both in combat and outside of it, but I wish there were more upgrades available for it to extend flight duration.Look, I find anime really cringe and their overused tropes really annoying, especially whiny children characters, insecure healers with lines like "I hope I'm good enough..." and the low iq, immature protagonist who's also some sort of ultra powerful demigod who's unaware of his true potential. But I've played through my first Star Ocean game this year, and my first Tales game last year (or whenever ToA came out). I powered through the cringe and I came out of these experiences feeling stronger. Why? Because the gameplay and combat looked pretty cool, and because it's nice to try new things from time to time, even if they make your toes curl.Solid game overall, enjoyable even for someone like me, and I'll be definitely keeping an eye out for future SO games.

Good game not as good as second story r but I enjoyed this latest entry in the franchise.
