TAMIYA 1:700 Jap. Mogami vliegtuigkruiser WL, modelbouw, plastic bouwpakket, knutselen, hobby, lijmen, plastic bouwpakket

Excellent Tamiya kit, my first attempt at 1/700 scale, very pleased with the great kit, excellent delivery and price from Japan.

Very happy with this purchase!I think the price was good for a Tamiya product, which is always a quality kit.The actual Tamiya model kit box was not shrink-wrapped, so I thought it was an open box and maybe not complete. However, to my relief, everything was in the manufacture's box and all the sprue trees were sealed in their plastic bags . In fact all the manufacturer’s materials box and bags were in factory news condition. Maybe they don’t do shrink-wrapped in Japan?I have since inspected the quality of the actual kit. There is little or no flash to be seen anywhere. There is no obvious warping or bending of the longer parts of the ship. There are no blemishes or imperfections that will require putty and sanded. Overall, an excellent example, which I hope to start building soon.I think the late war converted Mogami is an interesting kit to explore and build. The blend of heavy cruiser and seaplane carrier is definitely a unique combination. On inspection it looks like the 1/700 scale may not do the detail justice but space is a limitation so the smaller scale will have to do.For anyone looking for kits in this scale, I do recommend the Tamiya waterline series for display opportunities in dioramas, small space foot-print, and of course the cost vs quality it a good balance. There are other superior kits out there with detail delivered via photo-etched parts, but are harder to find and the price is much higher.Great kit. Highly recommend it.

Very impressed by the detail and amount of parts in this kit. Well done. Other than the teeny-weeny pontoons that you have to very meticulously glue on to the bottom of the bi-planes it was a fun build. Would recommend it for modelers with a bit more experience as the parts are quite tiny, and numerous. Might be a bridge too far for a beginner. But - maybe I'm wrong. Have fun no matter what. Model on!
