This kit is excellent quality. The parts have plenty of fine detail and the assembly is perfectly straightforward.I recommend this product.

This would be a good kit for a beginner or novice builder. It is nicely detailed and fairly simple to build. It is not a totally accurate DAK Tiger but if you want a nice, simple, and a reasonable display piece, then it is worth picking up.

This Tamiya Tiger 1 model kit is meant to depict the Tiger 1 tanks operating in Tunisia during the North African campaign of World War II. However, this kit contains several discrepancies with the tanks that were sent to Tunisia-- for example, the painting guide calls for Tamiya's XF-60 dark yellow, but the tanks in North Africa weren't painted dark yellow, but rather a more yellowish brown (RAL 8000) or a light brown (RAL 8020), often mixed with a secondary gray-green color. The yellow brown and light brown can be reproduced with Tamiya's XF-92 and XF-93 paints, though they have no paint that represents the secondary color, RAL 7008. I used Tamiya's XF-49 Khaki to try to replicate the gray-green, but the contrast is much too stark, as can be seen in the photos. I hand-painted the kit using Tamiya paints thinned with Mr Color Leveling Thinner, a lacquer thinner and retarder in one that allows the paint to both be thin and for the brush strokes to level out.Overall, while not the most accurate Tiger-- Dragon, Rye Field Model etc. may be more accurate-- to me if it looks like a Tiger then I'm a happy guy. The kit was typical Tamiya quality, the only slight annoyances being some pieces not fitting together as nicely or, in the case of the rear fenders, me being confused as to how to place them exactly, considering they don't really line up with the rear plate.Also, be careful with some small pieces! I dropped a piece from the turret, it bounced onto the floor, and I haven't seen it since, forcing me to paint the kit without it. Don't make the same mistakes I did.
