These garden flag clips are different than the ones I've been using. These are strong and have held three flags through a very stormy spring. The clip itself really grabs the cloth of the flag and the Velcro strip is then used to wrap the pole. At first, I wasn't sure how to fasten the Velcro strap, but it is long enough for experimentation. I found that winding 3 - 4 times around the pole and then through the clip eyelet worked best.

The flag holders are a blessing!! They keep the flag or whatever to have them holding in place.. Great price great item!!!
