Heb deze router gekocht als uitbreiding van Wifi in mijn tuin. Bedraad aangesloten en vervolgens makkelijk de instellingen aan te passen en in het netwerk te plaatsen/vinden.Voor deze prijs een prima oplosssing!

To get a good grip on the Tenda 4G680, I'll compare it with the HuaweiB535-333 - also available on Amazon.nl, for nearly the same price.I first owned the Huawei, then the Tenda. Both are 4G routers whichtheoretically allow you to plug any old landline telephone into theirphone ports; calls using it are billed to the SIM card you've put in,assuming it's one including call minutes and not just 'data only'.But - there is a catch. Actually a phonebook full of catches, but forthis review we need to glance at just two related ones, let's callthem catch 22a and 22b.The first one: 4G is internet only. It doesn't do phone traffic atall, at least not the kind that can easily be billed using a SIMcard. So originally and in many cases today, mobile phones and thelike use 4G only to stream video and such. When you call or are calledthey switch back to 3G.That's what the Huawei B535-333 does. So when the family is watchingsome exciting sports event in 4G glory and the phone rings, itswitches back to 3G to let you answer. Screams of rage? Mabe not,because 3G is actually enough for decent quality video.But as of April this year, the top Dutch mobile net - KPN - ditched 3G.Vodafone did the same in 2020. And as the B535-333 offers no alternative,its phone port doesn't work anymore, at least not with a KPN or VodafoneSIM card. That's of course also true for resellers like Lebara. T-mobilestill offers 3G, but its days appear to be numbered everywhere.Of course all mobile network providers offer VoLTE (voice over LTE),which is not unlike a call using Skype, WhatsApp and so on exceptthat it's billed to your SIM card account.The Tenda 4G680 is a "4G LTE and VoLTE router." That's what it says onthe tin. But here catch 22b applies. VoLTE products like smartphonesand routers may or may not be compatible with VoLTE as offered on aparticular network. The reason is surprisingly simple: there is noVoLTE standard.In my own experience the Tenda 4G680 doesn't support VoLTE on the KPNmobile net. So it switches back to 2G when I make or answer a call,temporarily halting any internet surfing altogether. In my use casethat doesn't matter - until 2G gets ditched as well, of course.Other than their phone ports being of doubtful use, both the 4G680 andthe B535-333 are decent 4G routers. No known exploitable weaknesses(yet) in their firmware, good 4G range and in the Tenda's case verygood wi-fi range combined with surprisingly low power consumption.The Tenda also comes with the best user guide. But on the box itsays "no configuration is needed." Indeed it will 'just work', butas always there are various security-related settings you may wantto change.

Disappointed that it doesn't have a SIM card slot, so I didn't use it.

Pleasantly surprised. The cheap price made me expect a cheap product but I find it works very well.
