I’ve been using these strings for 8 weeks now for about 12 hours playing per week so feel able to give a considered opinion.I was a bit put off by the price at first but a great player I know, Polly Bolton, suggested I try them. I have several really good mandos but decided to try these on my luthier built flat top made by Steve Suggitt of Chapel Guitars. It’s a fairly bright instrument with a unique voice but I’d often thought that the usual phosphor bronze daddarios etc didn’t quite bring out its best though the eft74s were very good. Anyway bit the bullet and paid the money. What a surprise! They feel superb to play, easy on the fingers with a fast, direct action.Faultless intonation on the fan fretted fingerboard.A very traditional mandoliny sound trending towards the classical sound that has developed as they’ve been played. They have a sound that I’m told is very easy to place in a mix either live or for recording. They show no sign of wear or deterioration and seem to be still improving. By this time most types of string would be overdue for replacement!I’m impressed and will be continuing to use them on this instrument. I don’t think I’d try them on my f5 for bluegrass style but recommend them for anyone playing a folky Celtic style or even ragtime.Well worth the price!

Corde veramente ottime. Le preferisco da molti anni rispetto alle Dogal do ogni tipo. Suono forte, preciso e rotondo. Consegna perfetta

Dislike? Price, and that's gospel. Even so, I shall now tend rhapsodic about these eight little beauties.I use the medium-weight on both my mandolins: a 1914 Gibson A0 pumpkin and an (estimated) 1880-ish Galliano di Nappoli Cremona-style (tater-bug for all you Americans) 26 rib with a face about the thickness of a postage stamp. I "EFFIN' LOVE THESE STRINGS !!I'm retired (76) and play very little anymore, my hands think I should stop altogethe, but I have now had the present strings on the instruments, tuned A-440 and they are still in tune whenever I pick them up to play. The sound is 95% (after three years) as bright as when I put them on and they still feel "Smppth as Peggy Shippen's (look her up!) back.Of course I have extra sets "J.I.C." but i consider the investment to be money well spend. Proof of this is that I bought six sets some time ago at (I think) $41.50per set and I can forsee the prices only continue to escalate due to difficulties in getting raw materials and possibly atrittion of skilled artisans fir creating these delights.Did I mention I love these strings?Oh.
