The bolt for the screw that holds the camera is not fixed in place, so its easy for it to pop out and be lost. Its mostly metal, which is good, but the clamping part is probably longer than it needs to be. Kind of falls apart when you take the camera mount off the rest of the unit, but in the end it does what its supposed to do without putting your camera at serious risk.

Over pat years i buy 7 of these. The first versions the round knops have some profile on i, preventing get loss. This version the knopt have no profile.

One would expect it to be compatible with RAM and it isn't.The balls are not 1" (25mm) and they are not made of rubber. If your device can be harmed by shock, this appliance does nothing for shock absorbing. The reason I bought this was the need for the RAM mount middle piece... I found another use for it , the only reason I kept it

I got this to hold my GoPro steady when cycling on poorly-maintained roads surfaces. Other arms have all drooped as you go over bumpy sections, no matter how hard you tighten them.The design here is really effective. It's a double-ball joint, allowing you to position the camera exactly where you want it. Then, tightening the screw pinches the arm around both balls to hold everything in place. The balls themselves have roughened surfaces to improve holding.Having said that, there are still a couple of things to be aware of:1. When going from a warm garage to a cold outside, the metal may expand slightly, loosening the overall grip, so be prepared for a little extra tightening once the metal has cooled to ambient temperature.2. On very bumpy surfaces, the arm can still be knocked out of position, no matter how tight you screw things down. Rather than risk stripping the nut by over-tightening, I was able to prevent movement by positioning the arm at the bottom of its range of travel e.g. low, flat and forward, instead of pointing up to the sky.
