In handheld mode, it works great. The 3 settings it provides are useful, the misting works a treat, and it's great that it charges via USB-C (which is far more reliable, and universal than anything else).I understand there's a design challenge in having an adjustable mist fan (due to needing waterflow), but there's just an awkwardness involved in how you can own a perfectly functional fan, yet have it be borderline impossible to aim it at yourself when it's not in your hand.

I got this TOPK portable misting fan for my wife, who regularly uses portable fans. This fan was particularly appealing due to the built-in misting feature.The fan is a little under 8 inches from top to bottom, including the water reservoir that doubles up as the handle. This makes it small enough to be comfortable to hand hold for reasonably long periods of time, but it can also be sat upright on a table. It is more stable standing up with water in the reservoir as this gives it more of a bottom heavy feel. There is a small stand included but it does stand up ok without it.There are 3 fan speed levels that can be chosen as well as the misting feature which can be either simply on or off. All of this is controlled via the button on the rear of the fan. The misting functions works well by simply automatically spraying water in front of the fan unit for dispersal forward in the air stream. The cooling effect works best by holding the fan relatively closely to the face and is most noticeable when using in a warm environment.The misting effect lasts for around 30mins if left on constantly and it is easy to replenish the water in the reservoir. Battery capacity is good and you can expect it to last all day when used regularly. It is charged via USB C so if you do need to top up when out and about you can use a power bank to do so.The fan isn't overly noisy and as you would expect it is slightly louder at higher fan speeds but nothing that would prove very distracting.This is a good little versatile fan for use indoors or out.

Finally, I can go to the races on a hot day, and on the day look like real socialite - hand operated fans are out, rechargeable electronic fans with a spray mist are in.It’s easy enough for anyone to operate, with just one button that cycles through power settings, or a long press for the mist. It might take a while to get the mist flowing - for me a couple of tries and some shakes of the fan helped clear the pipes and kick off the stream. While I can’t see any evident water sealing, there’s enough screw threads here that none has leaked out so far.What with aerodynamics, you’re only really likely to get the best mist performance at the lowest wind setting, as anything higher blows the mist below the fan’s air and not through it. To feel the effects of the mist it has to be about 20cm from your face (50cm without mist), so to feel the effect it’s a case of keeping the fan in motion. Why sweat, when this device can do it for you??I’m wary the product photos claim this gets down to -5 degrees - it probably feels more like +5, which is more than a reasonable estimate considering I’ve not suffered noticeable frostbite in the time using it.For its size it is pretty quiet on its lowest setting, though not absolutely silent. It’s akin to a PC fan running in the background, in that you stop noticing it after a while. As you go higher, it’s like a hair dryer that’s just been told to keep it down.A base comes supplied for standing it upright, but so long as you have water in the tank, it should stand just fine. The base also doesn’t really grip the fan very well, so it’s a bit of a useless pack-in. The product photos don’t even show it standing with the stand!With USB-C recharging and a decent battery life, plus an OK mister gimmick, this will be great in summer, and a good soup cooler in winter!
