This is my end game headphone amplifier. It must drive all of my analog and digital sources, and with the expansion EXT90, it will. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves here. Why this one?Power, expansion of its ecosystem. Sound quality. Technical performance. As measured on the Audio-science Review page. It did very well.First impressions.Built reasonably well. Not going to win any armor vault awards. It is still well assembled. Controls are tactile. Touchscreen easy to use and manage. The display has different appearance modes. An RTA and dual channel peak meters. Or a single VU meter look. See my 2 images. Last is volume level in db and peak level bars underneath with gain level your output method, and input selected.Single encoder combination knob that is coupled to a relay volume attenuated system for excellent volume and balance tracking. And menu navigation. Push to enter selection.Connect me.Front panel has 4 pin XLR, 4.4mm Pentacon, and 6.3mm headphone output connections. Nothing else on the front panel.Rear Connections.XLR and RCA inputs and outputs. IEC power AC connection. The last is the expansion connector for the EXT90 for those looking for more inputs! That for me is a huge allure. With all my tape machines, and professional XLR balanced gear that is huge. No need for a mixer or preamplifier. Since this doubles as a preamplifier input and output too. With the EXT90, a complete solution. Mains AC rocker switch too but most often powered via soft start up front. Or with the remote included. Usual suspects here. Power, volume up and down, gain, source, mute and 2 custom buttons. Mostly the sits idle for me since I am next to the a70 Pro anyway.Sound.Has to be the best sounding Topping I have heard to date for me. This is not anywhere close to my a30pro for instance. This has an ease about it. Highs are smooth, and articulate without the glare the a30pro has. Bass is tight. Well managed if not huge. Midrange is detailed, and gathers vocals nicely. Instrument render is quite believable with my Focal Elegia and the Hifiman Sundara. The Beyer Dynamic DT770 have not tried yet. My Harmonic Dyne Black Holes which do well on everything are done well here too.Not the last word in imaging or sound staging. But I am happy what I get.Living with.Unlike the blast furnace Schiit audio Asgard 3 or even my Topping a30pro, this is a cool running operator. My Aune doesn’t run this cool either. Evidently Topping felt they didn’t need to bias that much high class AB let alone class A, and that is fine.It sits neatly in my Sound Devices and Aune stack a treat. No input is challenged by anything I have. Whether -10db or +4db which very nice.$400.00 something is not cheap, but for the performance, flexibility, sound quality. The Topping a70pro is spot on. Got this on sale here at $439.00. Topping introduces new models all the time. As does the all the folks in land of China made audio.I think this one is the one you say one and done with. Unless I find something really extraordinary, this is it! It does what I want, and a most satisfying sound, and all the headroom I could want. Plus that expansion capability of the EXT90. An easy sell for me. And a Highly Recommended to all.

Aside from all the nice features you get from Toppings U.I and software, and the excellent build, the sound is just impeccable. I was driving my LCD-2c's with a Fiio K7 before. While nice, it could not drive my cans like this thing can. I'm newer to the hobby so I don't even have words to explain how it changed my LCD's. It feels like it just pushes the resolution, the dynamics, the everything, to the most it could possibly be. The were many times where I could hear my K7 struggle at higher volumes to maintain proper separation and clarity in tracks, but this amp gives everything this headphone needs. In my opinion, whatever headphone you plug into the A70 pro, is going to make it sound as the manufacturer intended.

As seen in the photograph, I use the A70 in conjunction with the RME adi2 FS, as my desktop set up. It gives effortless power to drive all my headphones easily. I tried the A90, but the A70 for me, has better separation between instruments, with a greater depth and width to the soundstage. I have 83 year old ears, so your findings might well be different. Highly recommended

Big and powerful with a couple of nice visualization options on the LCD.Got this as my first dedicated, stand alone AMP for listening to a wide range of different headphones. The only thing I can think of that it is missing is an option to change the output impedance for different demands of headphones.

The summer months are too hot to run my main system (class A) so I wanted a small, cool running, headphone amp. You're not going to get that full bodied warmth of a true class A headphone amp but its a great product. Best feature for me is that each input retains the settings, e.g., high or low gain, great for connecting sensitive iem's and hard to drive planars without having to worry or remember to make adjustments every time. The various visualizations the screen offers are pretty fun too. Connected to Lumin U2 mini > Chord Qutest.
