I usually never write review as I'm too lazy for that. But this backpack is so good that I had to write one. I was looking for the perfect daypack for almost 2y, after ordering, reviewing and sending back several technical daypack from brand such as Opsrey, Deuter, Gregory, etc... And I'm genuinely wondering how come I never came across Vaude and this amazing backpack. My backpack use case is:- Commuting by bicycle- Highly ventilated & highly confortable back panel- Need to be able to fit a 13"/14" Macbook Pro size laptop- Fit my bouldering gear (climbing shoes + chalk bag + climbing clothes, etc...)- Still have some room left for a rain jacket or a sweater + some grocery on my way back home if needed.- Very well organised pocket with a dedicated quick access pocket for sunglass, wallet, phone, earbuds, etc...- Not looking bulky when fully loaded & being able to look very slim when only carrying a laptop.- Rain cover. The Alpine 25+5 does it all. And perfectly. The photos doesn't show it clearly, but there is a dedicated and very wide bottom compartment that has the capacity to store a medium chalk bouldering bag, a pair of climbing shoes + a pair of flipflop (or whatever is dirty) at the bottom of the backpack. Very handy to pack the dirty stuff that you don't want to get in contact with the rest of your stuff. The water bladder pocket is not primarily designed to store a laptop, but it is a made in way that it is not too thigh and doesn't squeeze the laptop once it is in in there. I was afraid that the metal structure of the back panel will be an issue for that use case, but since the pocket is not too thigh and the metal structure is not too "bended", this was easily fixed by putting the laptop in a laptop sleeve. Which, I realised now, is a better solution when not carrying a laptop, as a dedicated padded laptop sleeve would make the bag heavier and bulkier by default. The main compartment is absolutely huge and allow to carry a lot of stuff. Not mention that the +5L extension is really well made. I was a bit doubtful at first, but the system to extend the bag capacity is very well made and very clever. Ho, and bonus point: the layer of the bottom compartiment is separate by a zipper, so you could remove the separation, if needed, from the bottom compartiment and the main one, and turn the main compartiment in a HUGE storage capacity. VERY WELL DONE VAUDE!And last but not least... the backpack can actually stand by itself, when fully loaded without a dedicated metal structure, like the Opsrey Tropos, which has a dedicated structure for the kickstand! I don't know if the Vaude Bike Alpine 25+5 was intended to be designed that way, but this is a very pleasant surprise indeed!I'm genuinely having a hard time to find some negative points to this backpack but if I had to be picky, the only room for improvement I could suggest would be:- Confort of the shoulder strap. There is maybe a brake-in period and even though they seems already pretty good, maybe some more padded shoulder strap as they seems to be a bit "stiff" at first?- Replace the fixed hip belt strap with some removable strap in order to have the option to remove them and only putting them back when needed (I assume the Wizard series has that option for example)Conclusion: I am so glad I found this amazing backpack. Brilliant work Vaude! Your marketing team team needs to do better, this bag deserve to be reviewed by all the blogger & YouTuber out there - Sadly, I only came accros this backpack randomly and could have miss this gem. This backpack deserve more love and really hope Vaude won't discontinue this series!
