I occasionally need to work on my laptop using my desktop accessories such as monitor, keyboard and mouse. I have a separate USB and HDMI switches which will facilitate this but they are fiddly and can get out of sequence. The Vpfet is a KVM switch which takes the place of the two switches I have previously used. This switch is supplied with a 12v PSU which is necessary to connect for it to function. The KVM switch also benefits from a remote control which can sit on the desktop allowing the switch to be located out of the way.The switch is easy to use and works faultlessly. There are LEDs to indicate whether computer one or two is connected but they are not very bright and can only be seen from directly in front. This switch performs up to the standards of other KVM switches I have used and has the added benefit of a remote control.

Nice little KVM set with leads included in the pack to get you up and running.I already have a similar unit set up on my 2 main 'office' PCs... 1 'mini' PC running Win11, and an old dual-boot tower unit running Win7 and Win10. That particular KVM has performed well, so was looking for another one for my 'workbench' 2-PC setup. It was very easy at this stage just to try this new VPFET model on the office setup as all the leads were already in place.Everything works as it should and nothing of concern there, but I have decided to put this new VPFET on the office setup, and relegate my existing one to the workbench for the simple reason of aesthetics. Where my old unit has some of the connections on the sides, this VPFET has the all the main hook-up stuff on the back. It just looks a lot neater on a tidy desk.The separate optional plug-in switch is also better than my old one and has a soft-rubber feel to it*, which would soon get messed up on my workbench (possible soldering iron splatter... silIcone grease finger marks etc!). Situated the office desk, it won't be subjected to this.*Regarding this 'rubberised' textured plastic, I'll just add a particular bugbear about this stuff...When new, this finish looks and feels great.BUT... I've lost count of the gadgets / tools I've had which contain this type of plastic that have eventually turned to a sticky mess.Remotes, torches, USB microscopes... ALL of them have eventually ended up like this. It's not through use, it's just that this type of plastic degrades over time (online cures include rubbing the surface with baking powder!).Anyway, the bottom line is that this set all works as it should, and eliminates the hassle of lead-swapping on a 2-PC setup, and by looks alone it's better than my old one. The 8K facility doesn't matter to me at the moment, but may be useful to someone.There are many of these types of switches on Amazon, so make sure you double-check the specs / prices before committing to buy.For me, this does the job a treat.

Works well with any combo of PC, Laptop, Console etc operating 1 screen from 2 devices. Simple switching between the two, with colour coding light for which device you're on. I also use this for using a single wireless laptop and keyboard on both devices at the same time. Excellent. All cables supplied, clear & easy instructions.

Device has impressive specs of 8K HDMI and USB3. I was only able to test to 4K, due to not owning an 8K monitor, but good to be future proofed!However, I remain unconvinced about whether or not it needs USB3. Again, it's great future proofing, but in reality, this can only be used for keyboards and mice.The product description claims it can be used for USB storage devices, which technically it can. However, if you switch between computers, all the USB devices are abruptly disconnected from the first PC and connected to the second PC, which in the case of storage will eventually lead to corruption.All this extra capability seems to come at the price of needing a power supply, which is provided. Many of the USB2/4K versions do not require external power.Included is a remote switch to toggle between the 2 computers, which is a great addition, as it allows you to install the KVM switch box out of sight, for a neater installation. Sadly, there is no indicator on the remote switch to tell you which computer it's switched to.
