WaveShare has all the fun stuff, But they have zero quality to them. There is zero error protection or safety to their parts. A single wrong python command to the display and it has already stopped working completely. My advice: Unless you're a large scale manufacturer looking for ready to go hardware with already TESTED code, fine. But these are TERRIBLE products for tinkerers. I have now fried every single Wave Share display I have ever tested purely with bad python code. The lack of any code protection is poor.Time to find a new vendor for hobbyist products. No longer going to try any waveshare products or give them any benefit of the doubt

Do not, I repeat, do not buy this screen. I tried for months to get it working, tried the own company tutorial on how to get it working: it did not. Tried support to get it working: They stopped responding. Do not waste your mony on this chinese S***.

Firstly, the fact that I have the opportunity to be critical of a colour e-ink display is mind boggling to me from 20 years ago. This tech has come such a long way! This display gives you seven colours to work with, at a pretty reasonable DPI all things considered. It is a very bare-bones presentation, with the display and then a ribbon cable and breakout board to connect it to one of your favourite microcontrollers or single-board computers. After a little bit of fiddling around on the product listing, I found the pdf download link, and the documentation is good enough to get you going with just a rudimentary understanding of how the device functions. From my perspective, that's exactly as deep as it needs to go, because if you're working with electronics at this level, you already have an understanding of what you need to fill in the gaps. This display has a relatively slow refresh (stated as 35 seconds), which might make one kind of wince, but considering it has to refresh six different colours I find it pretty reasonable. The colours aren't going to knock your socks off from their vibrancy, but are more than clear enough for a properly-processed photo to look surprisingly nice. The real fun is trying to decide what kind of device you want to make with this, because the sky really is the limit. Since this isn't fastened to a cumbersome breakout board, you can fashion pretty much any kind of case you want to while keeping things VERY slim. Throw a wireless controller in there and you have yourself a pretty nifty, exceptionally low-power info display wherever you'd like. After poking around online, I also see that most of the dithering algorithms that work best with this set of colours has already been worked out, but if you were to want to do it manually it would be quite easy to do in paint software. There are smaller options available for experimenting with, which offer slightly better refresh rates and less steep prices, but I don't find this to be particularly expensive when I compare it to other options that I'd need to ship from overseas and wait a month for. With that in mind, I'd say this is an excellent value for a display this size and it's the nicest colour e-ink display I've seen thus far!

This 7.3 inch, 7 color E-Paper does not come with any documentation and this specific one was also hard to find when searching for information on using it. Most of the information out there is for two color boards. Since I wanted to use this with an Arduino instead of the Raspberry Pi, it was even harder to find examples etc.But persistence pays off and I did get it to work. The color is quite good but the refresh rate is rather slow. This E-Paper module would not be suitable for any display that was constantly updating, but for static displays, it works well. The fact that you can even disconnect the power and it keeps the image is impressive. At the moment, I can't think of any reason I would want to do that, but who knows what upcoming projects will arise. All things considered; it is a very nice display if 7 colors are all you will need. I like it but I took off one star for the lack of any documentation or any links to where such could be found.
