It’s a small and simple infrared camera, one of the best in this price range (I was choosing between this one and Seek Thermal Compact, and the latter one lost because of feedback for its application). It’s not a professional device and it’s temperature measurements can’t be used in any professional industry (I’m not even sure you can calibrate it). What it does good for the price is showing hot and cold areas, which can be handy for a number of applications.I use it to assess heat losses in my he residential properties, and as you can see on the sample screenshots, the insulation around the windows and in the window mechanisms in the example isn’t great and a lot of heat is going on the street from these areas.Other applications can include: assessment of wiring connections quality, locating radiator pipes and water leaks, as well as simply having fun exploring the world from a different perspective and even strange cases like quickly locating the cars which recently arrived to a parking lot and so on.The disadvantage for me is that for a tiny device, which requires lens protection, I wish it came with a better protection sleeve/case, the one in the box is just rubbish, it doesn't keep its shape, and even to take the device out of it, you have to put your fingers on the lens.I’ll be using a headphone case and cut out a rectangular hole in a piece of foam to use as an insert, but I wish something like this (costing $2-3, even less if purchased in bulk) was included in the package, instead of fancy, but useless box.

I bought both versions (USB-C and Apple Lightning) so I was able to make a direct comparison of the data provided by the two thermal cameras. For the tests I have recorded thermal images from the same objects, one with my iPhone 13 and one with a Lenovo Tab4 8+ Android Tablet. Here are the findings:1) The USB-C camera is substantially smaller than the Lightning camera.2) During operation the USB-C camera is getting noticeably warm while the Lightning camera stays cool.3) As you can see from the recorded thermographs, there is a consistent temperature offset between the two camera types. Data from the USB-C is only reliable at room temperature while data from the Lightning camera is much closer to reality throughout a wider temperature range-4) From the USB-C camera low temperatures are shown consistently too low and high temperatures are shown consistently too high. Boiling water is measured at 140°C (reality is ca. 100°C) and the inside of my freezer is shown to be -31°C (reality is -18°C).5) The Android app crashes if the camera is unplugged during operation and you have to restart the device to restart the app. This problem does not occur on iOS.Maybe I just have a faulty USB-C camera but I'm definitely returning it and I'll keep the Lightning camera. However, I have to say that for this price the P2 Pro is still way better than anything else out there!
