I like the blue paint. Better than green!Its 8mm or at least it fits the dies commonly sold as 8 mm and an 8mm bolt threads right in with no trouble. The bottom die is 19 mm as it should be.There's a couple of small problems with the design. The hardened steel punch rod is also threaded at the top. This is the exact surface the lever mechanism bears down on. I couldn't leave it like this so I used a short m8 carriage bolt and rounded off the square below it's cap using a file. I then threaded this bolt down flush with the top of the push rod. This gives tge unit a buttery smooth action and prevents the hardened push rod from chewing up the softer cam on the bottom of the lever.Also, there's a lot of slop in the lever so I added a ring to tighten it up. The lever pivot bolt is fully threaded which means all the force is taken by the puny bearing surface of the sharp threads on an m6 bolt. That's just waiting to chew through the thin cast iron cheeks. I replaced the threaded bolt with an m6x60 partially threaded bolt and sawed off the excess. With these modifications I trust this will last a very long time with no problems. Oh, yes, I greased the unit of course.The inluded rings could have been made by Gillette, they are thin and razor sharp. Great for a single use and throw away project.The dies are great and once modified everything works perfectly. There was no rust on my unit or the dies, it was packaged reasonably and there was no transit damage.Although I may sound a bit salty I am actually glad I bought this! For the money, it can't be beaten.

I have read the reviews of these devices snapping, the cast iron is brittle, especially under that much leverage. However, as most manufactures point out.. that.. To prevent this from happening, the punch needs screwed or bolted to a firm solid base. One surprising, undocumented, detail about this rivitt punch, is that it actually punches holes in light materials, it's mentioned in the instruction leflet.. I've tested it with thick double layered PVC banner material, it works great! So properly mounted and used with care, I'm confident it will give good service!
