This plane arrived in a little cardboard box which was pretty badly beaten up, thankfully the plane inside hadn’t suffered any damage as a result but a bit more packaging would’ve been nice.Take careful note of the dimensions in the product title as they’re accurate and this is a very small plane intended for smaller locations and use-cases. It’s easy enough to chuck into a toolbox or tool belt pocket to have on hand when you need to touch up something minor like a door. It's also great for knocking the sharp edge off or fully chamfering a piece of lumber.It works to a usable level right out of the box, but if you have the time and patience, I'd really suggest giving the blade a quick touch up with some stones. My only other concern is the price point, you can grab these little planes from the likes of Silverline for around a fiver, so the £18 price point here is hard to swallow even if it is made from actual ebony. The fit and finish of the product doesn’t really match my expectations with the price either but it is a tool at the end of the day so I don't particularly care about the looks. The important bit is that the blade sits at the correct angle, the thumbscrew holds it tight and the bottom of the wooden body is very flat. Which is to say it does the intended job well enough after a little time on the sharpening stones.If you don't mind the higher than average cost, this may be worth considering, but there are cheaper ones out there that are basically the exact same.
